Space name best practices

Space names must accurately reflect the Space and follow our naming guidelines. Keep in mind that only authorized representatives should manage a Space for a brand, shop, club, organization, or public figure.

Space display names can match other Spaces on CollectionStation — only your Web address must be unique. Even so, choose a clear, accurate name so collectors can recognize your Space in search, the directory, and their feed.

Space name best practices

Keep Space names simple, specific, and grammatically correct to accurately reflect the purpose of your Space. For example:

• Collector's Corner Comics
• Allstar Locksmith
• Midwest Coin & Stamp Club

Put slogans, taglines, and longer descriptions in your Space Description or About section instead of the name field.

Space names can't include

• Terms or phrases that may be abusive or violate someone's rights.
• The word "official" if the Space isn't the authorized Space of a brand, shop, organization, or public figure.
• Improper capitalization (example: tHe best CaFE). Space names should use grammatically correct capitalization and may not be written entirely in capital letters, except for acronyms.
• Symbols (example: ®) or unnecessary punctuation.
• Descriptions or slogans (example: The Best Cafe - We serve the best coffee in town). People who manage Spaces can add this information in the Space Description or About section.
• Any variation of the name "CollectionStation" in a way that could confuse collectors about whether the Space is run by CollectionStation.

Space names can't consist only of

• A single, general word (example: Comics). Spaces should represent a specific shop, brand, club, or organization — avoid names that are too broad.
• General geographic locations (example: Chicago). However, you can use a Space name for an organization that represents a geographic location. For example, Chicago Coin Club or Mayor's Office of Springfield are acceptable Space names. You may also use a Space name that's different from the legal name of the organization as long as the name accurately reflects what the Space is about (example: Tourism Ireland could use a Space named Discover Ireland).

Change your Space name

You can update your Space name anytime from Space settings:

1. Open your Space.
2. Go to Settings → Details.
3. Edit Space Name.
4. Click Save.
